Are We In A Social Network Bubble?

They tell me there are many millions of Medium users. I’m sure that’s true. When I was in graduate school I took a class on social network analysis. I learned about stars, nodes, links, spread, and whatnot. To be honest, the class was almost 20 years ago at this point, so a lot of the details are pretty fuzzy.

I love the group of writers I know here. I’ve made great friends. But we all seem to see each other regularly without branching out much. We’re like this group at the outskirts of this social network below. It would be unwieldy to be a much bigger group, I think. But I wonder what we are not seeing. Are there a million other articles out there? Are the other users readers only? Just a curiosity.
