Everything old becomes new again. I learned all about fashion from my grandma, though she never kept up with it. She just told me to hang on to everything, because it will become popular again. She has not steered me wrong.
My grandmother was a seamstress who went to college and graduate school in home economics. She became an adjunct professor never paid much, but able to live her dream of restoring fabrics from prairie days.
Once a farmer found a steam ship buried in his field. Well, it had sunk in the Missouri River, but the River had changed course long ago, so voila, up turns this ship. Well, there were numerous trunks in the ship with clothes in them.
My grandmother got to restore them. They were muddy and wet. The threads holding them together had disintegrated. But grandma put them all back together. Now, she has a tiny little museum in her name at the University of Northern Iowa.
