Here’s where I part ways with this whole argument. A civil war did start in this country. A brother of mine is no longer my brother. I think Russia is to blame. Perhaps it is another bad actor. I just think it is interesting how many times I have personally run into Russia bots on social media. Furthermore, I think it is interesting that my brother followed their pattern of propaganda perfectly — a Sanders voter who was lured to Trump by fake news. His bizarre beliefs increasingly coming directly from social media memes.
It is not like the fight is over either. The Russians have been all over the flag controversy. Roy Moore. Now net neutrality.
I don’t read articles on Medium that explain how many connections have been made between the Trump team and the Russian government. Indeed, all these “independent” Medium journalists do is try to discredit the mainstream news. Under examination, that just looks too incriminating to bother debating. Why ignore what your eyes can plainly see? This is just based on the material Trump’s own son released. It starts to make me wonder, what’s the deal with “independent” journalists that are blind to the obvious?
If my personal experience has been to run into Russian bots over and over in social media platforms beyond just Facebook and Twitter, which is bad enough. If my personal experience is that my family members are being cleaved from me in a way that divides our relationship after social media influences them, I want to know more. I also am curious why my posts concerned about Russia end up being so roundly ignored while the ones saying there is no problem with Russia get lots and lots of attention. Hmm.
