I don’t think people are getting what a lot of us are saying. Molly S Hill had a great essay about how she feels about Trump voters.

For me, this is a crime of historical proportions they have committed. This man has shown every sign of being an authoritarian. And people voted for that. The same signs were here for him that were here for the Nazis: stirring conspiracy theories, stoking violence, scapegoating minorities, attacking immigrants, making demagogue claims, etc. A smaller percentage of Germans ever elected Adolf based on his rhetoric than we did (his party never gained a majority of the German vote).

I don’t care if all of his voters are the second coming of Christ. What they did by endorsing his brand of politics was inexcusable. Maybe it’s because I sat in front of a German professor who lived through it all for a semester as he described how authoritarianism rose in his country, but when I see my countrymen make this choice. For shame. Damn it. For shame.
