I haven’t heard of those three programs. They sound promising. I was lifted from poverty by Upward Bound, which is an educational program for high school students aimed at holistically meeting the needs of low-income and first-generation students. But Upward Bound has been slashed to the bone in budget cuts so I’m not sure how many young people it even serves anymore. It once served 7% of eligible students. I suspect that’s down to 3% now. In headier days, we use to talk about how the Upward Bound model should be exported to public school generally. Bygone era, I suppose.
