I realize I already answered you, but for some reason your question came up as a tab again on my computer, and I am more upset about our system than ever today.
The American system shoves pills at problems. That is why I am only able to treat trauma with pills. I have limited access to psychotherapy, because “it is not profitable.” The agency were I was getting therapy is ending my therapy because they were losing money on reimbursement rates from insurance companies. Therefore, I am hunting for a new therapist right now which is extremely counterproductive to my mental health. But profits rule here. They survive on human misery like mine. Insurance companies, drug companies, etc. They all win. We can’t have a single payer system that would allow decisions to be made based on evidence-based practice rather than profit.
There are three things that should not be subjected to profit. Health, education, and criminal justice. We do all three here. We let people profit on human misery, inequality, and injustice. Then we wonder why they flourish.
