I worry you may have lost your children in another state. There are CPS workers who are not so advanced, depending on the state you live in. Of course, it also may depend on the stigma you are dealing with.
My parents lost their children due to a combination of stigma about mental illness and poverty.
Small Town Life Was the American Dream if You Fit In
What happened to my family in small town Iowa was the stuff of nightmares
One of my black students had a husband using marijuana for pain in a state where it is not legal. She lost custody of her children because the police caught him with it in a very dubious way. They entered their home in pursuit of a criminal at a different address. So it was an accident to be in their home. She has since died young, and I think it was from the stress of losing her children.
I am horrified about what happened to you. I am also not surprised as you can imagine based on my experiences. In the end, I’m glad that you didn’t lose custody of your children.
