In a way, I think there is a sense in which, that is exactly what we have to do now. Once you know the problem, you know the problem. No more time spent gawking at it is useful. umair haque wrote an essay to Americans decrying our major problems right now. We are constantly outraged, constantly reacting, and in this emotional state, we are paralyzed. We have become the dreaded, “reactionaries.”
What we need to do now is 1) get together physically in libraries, churches, and homes, 2) begin earnest planning regarding November, 3) strategize regarding how to deal with voter suppression, online cyber tactics, and brainwashing tactics by the right wing. These are things off the top of my head based on Umair’s call to action over reaction. It is the time to act. The other side has been organizing and planning for decades.
There are books, like Suburban Warriors, dedicated to describing the tactics of the conservative movement. The bulk of them involve planning, organization, and strategizing. I wish I could lead the charge. I have precarious mental health, so I’m not a good candidate. But, I truly believe this is what we all need to start doing, and I will be there for the meetings.
