Like you said, different writers write for different reasons. I don’t write about my oppression to gain allies. In fact, I am generally in a pissed off, you-people-suck, mood. I write about how a political party took food away from my family; allowed my family to be divided into foster care homes, rather than provide them government assistance; and then most people for years just blow that off as “a political difference.” These people effectively tried to kill me. They cut off my food when I was a helpless child. No matter how many times I tell the story and in no matter how many different polite ways, do you know how much people care — especially the alleged liberal allies out there? Nadda, zip, not at all.
So after a while, when a political party has tried to kill you off, and no one under the fucking sun gives a damn, you get loud and angry. This is how I know why these writers are angry. I am sick of sweetly trying to convince people of what it is like to beg for food in school. I imagine they are sick of sweetly repeating the same useless anti-oppression work without anything ever changing.
