Oh my goodness, I don’t like the notification system on Medium. I have watched it carefully today, and yet, I didn’t see this from you. Anyhow, I would love to talk to you about all this.
I’d say that going to all of the churches ended up being more confusing than anything. But it was still interesting. In many ways, churches are all alike, especially when you are a kid. You learn the same Bible stories at each kind of Christian church you attend. But as you get older, it starts to be different. The beliefs splinter slightly from each other, and the funny thing is, it is usually over nothing I could legitimately identify in the Bible. I mean sure, I suppose the Seventh Adventists could be right that everyone else is going to hell for changing the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday (rolls eyes) or maybe we’re supposed to pray to heal ourselves (raises eyebrow in concern), but I doubt it. It was dogma that felt so stifling.
My friend, Monte, said his church never got around to making a website and when he retired recently, they didn’t replace him, so the tiny congregation doesn’t have a pastor (he lives in rural Iowa). But he says he would be happy to answer questions for you.
