This is a position that comes from a lack of knowledge. Racism is still a major problem and it rarely if ever reversed. If you can’t take the word of black people themselves, why can’t you can’t the word of social scientists who have studied racism for over 70 years? Researchers have sent in black/white matched pairs to businesses, landlords, banks, employers, and realtors to see if discrimination still existed. It does. Clearly. And not in the direction you said.
I can provide you with an extensive list of readings that would thoroughly educate you on how each of the institutions that underpin American society continues to put obstacles in the way of black and brown people. These readings would explain how it happens, whose doing it, in what numbers, how it unfolded to be in that situation, even why the racism can be unconscious. It would take a great deal of your time to learn it all. But in the end, it would show you the truth, and you would not look foolish to future generations studying this era on the internet for research or something.
You know how we look back on the people who owned slaves and we think how awful they were. Someday, children will look back on this era, they will learn from their education about all of the social science I mentioned to you. Then, they will see all of the white people who denied the racism as it was happening. That’s going to be a dark stain on those people. You don’t want to come off as the equivalent of a pro-segregationist in this generation to future generations, do you?
